My Sustainability Story: Rescued, Reimagined, & Ready to Party

Let’s be honest: the world doesn't exactly need more "stuff." It definitely doesn't need more mass-produced, soul-crushing plastic trinkets that lose their lustre by the time you get them home. At RainbowRegalia, I do things a bit differently.. My version of sustainability isn't about being a saint; it's about being a scavenger with excellent taste.

🔍 The Scavenger’s Heart

I don't start my designs by scrolling through a wholesale factory catalogue. I start with a "find." Whether it’s a vintage button rescued from a dusty tin, an old faceted glass bead, or a lucky Irish Punt from 1992, my work is rooted in circularity.

Why bother making "new" things when the most beautiful materials already exist, just waiting for a second act? I find these forgotten treasures (like this Black Forest Bloom necklace) and turn them into something you’d actually want to wear to a wedding—or just to the shops when you're feeling a bit fabulous.

🧪 The Bio-Resin Revolution

I’ll be straight with you about the resin. I’ve moved away from the nasty, petroleum-heavy stuff and opted for bio-based resins. These beauties use plant-based waste products instead of pure oil.

I use the best tech available to ensure my handmade jewellery is durable. By choosing bio-resins, I’m reducing our reliance on fossil fuels while making sure your favourite earrings don’t just fall apart next Tuesday. It’s "plastic" but with a conscience.

⏳ The "Small Batch" Ethos

RainbowRegalia isn't a giant warehouse in a grey business park; it’s just me, holed up in  my spare room in Greystones, Co. Wicklow. I don't have "overstock" because I only make what my hands can manage.

Mass production is the enemy of the planet. I’m strictly slow fashion. Every piece is made in tiny batches, which means zero waste and a total rejection of "throwaway" culture. When you buy a piece, you’re usually getting the only one of its kind in existence (like these Vintage Starflower earrings)

📦The Last Mile (Mostly Plastic-Free)

Your order arrives in compostable packaging, and even the tape on the box is made of plants. Now, full disclosure: there’s a little sponge inside to keep your bits safe. It’s currently plastic, which honestly kills my soul a bit, but I’m obsessed with finding an affordable, eco-friendly alternative that doesn't cost the earth—literally or financially.

Because, let’s face it, the only thing I want to last forever is the sparkle on your ears, not the wrapper it came in.
