I’m not saying wearing a thirty-year-old fish around my neck will instantly grant me wisdom, but it’s a very solid start. I’ve handcrafted this in my Greystones studio, taking a 1996 Irish 10p and surrounding it with a rather decadent mix of raw amethyst.
It’s suspended on a stainless steel paperclip chain, which is basically the workhorse of the jewellery world—reliable, stylish, and looks just as good with a battered old hoodie as it does with a proper dress. It’s the perfect piece for anyone who misses the weight of "real" money or just really likes a salmon in a silver-toned setting.
The Coin: An original 1996 Irish 10p, featuring the classic salmon design. It’s seen a bit of life, which only makes it more interesting—much like the rest of us.
The Stones: Raw amethyst pieces, because if I am going to wear a bit of the 90s, I want it to have a touch of royal purple edge.
The Chain: A modern stainless steel paperclip chain. It’s sturdy, tarnish-resistant, and won't throw a tantrum if I forget to take it off.
The Length: A very sensible 50cm to the top of the pendant, sitting exactly where a statement piece should.
The Clasp: A chunky T-bar toggle front-facing clasp, because life is too short to be fumbling with tiny hooks behind my head.
The Vibe: "I’m deeply connected to my heritage, but I also have an excellent eye for a sharp, modern finish."
Handmade with love, a bit of history, and a mandatory amount of purple.
