1996 Irish 1p Coin Hoop Earrings

I’m not saying wearing these will make you feel like you’re on a permanent holiday, but it’s a very solid start. I’ve handcrafted these, taking the Irish 1p and adding a handful of repurposed turquoise chips to give them a bit of an edge.

They’re lightweight enough to wear all day, even if your "all day" mostly involves wondering where the time went. It’s a bit of wearable heritage for anyone who misses the weight of a proper penny but prefers it hanging from their ears.

• The Coin: Original Irish 1p coins featuring the classic bird design. They’ve seen some history, which is more than I can say for the change currently sitting at the bottom of my handbag.

• The Stones: Repurposed turquoise chips for a pop of sea-blue drama that contrasts beautifully with the warm copper tones.
